Urban Ministry is pleased to welcome Danny Jones as the new Director of the Joe Rush Center for Urban Mission.
A native of Athens, Alabama, Danny graduated from Birmingham-Southern College and attended the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He spent many years serving in United Methodist churches, including a seven year stint in the North Alabama Conference office. More recently, Danny was an organizer for Alabama Arise, working to promote state policies that improve the lives of low-income Alabamians.
As the Director of the Joe Rush Center, Danny will coordinate volunteer work groups who stay in our dorm facility, oversee the Rush Center house painting program, and lead service-learning and Biblical reflection with youth groups on poverty, inequality, and justice.
Danny, his wife Michelle, and their two rambunctious boys are active members of Highlands United Methodist Church in Southside Birmingham. He enjoys drinking coffee and making puns.
