A Ministry of Compassion and Wholeness

Last Sunday, we had a great show of support for Urban Kids at our Back-to-School Benefit Concert featuring the Dill Pickers!

Urban Kids director Dorothiann McCray welcomed everyone and shared some exciting changes we have coming to the program, including a new partnership with Birmingham-Southern College Education students.

The Dill Pickers charmed us all with a great mix of old-time, bluegrass and folk music, with some old standards thrown in for good measure. Here they are singing our new office theme song "I love coffee":

And here singing the new WE Gardens anthem for the summer, "Homegrown tomatoes"!

BIG thanks to the Dill Pickers: Lesli, Stewart, Norton, Theresa, Scottie, and Kneeland!

Thanks also to First United Methodist Church Birmingham, the Urban Kids advisory group who worked hard to make things run smoothly, and all the supporters who showed up to make this event a success!

We raised over $1500 and had a great time in the process.
