We've had a bittersweet week here at Urban Ministry. It's the last week of Urban Kids summer camp (our after school program will start up again in August), and Friday was Mrs. Becky's last day. 



Becky Wadley has served as director of Urban Kids for 5 years. The kids surprised her with a party and presented art, music, song and dance to say "thank you" and "goodbye." 



Every child wrote a thank-you letter and read it aloud before receiving a big goodbye hug. One of our artists drew this portrait of Becky: 



Many of the older kids grew up with Mrs. Becky and had a lot to say. By the end of the afternoon, there was not a dry eye in the classroom!



We thank Mrs. Becky for her years of dedicated service, enthusiasm, creativity and leadership in making Urban Kids what it is today. She begins her new career as an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer coordinator at Birmingham Southern College's Bunting Center today, and we couldn't be more happy for them.
