Dear Friend of Urban Ministry:
Love is an action verb.
It’s not simply a warm feeling, but, as Martin Luther King, Jr. said, an “understanding, creative, redemptive good will for all.”
We don’t show love to others by talking to them, but in the way we act toward them, in the way we serve them, in the way we treat them. At Urban Ministry, we seek to love in the same way that Jesus loves us...in truth and action.
We serve love in addition to food in the
Community Kitchen. We offer grace and peace in the
Food Pantry. We grow hope in the
WE Community Gardens. And we are able to offer this overwhelming love because of the support of people like you.
Once again this year, we have an opportunity to participate in the matching grant program from the Feinstein Foundation.
Alan Shawn Feinstein (shown above), a Rhode Island philanthropist, has donated $1 million to help end hunger.
Because of our work to end hunger, the Feinstein Foundation offered to make a proportional match for every donation given from March 1 to April 30, 2012.
The more money we are able to raise, the bigger our portion of Mr. Feinstein’s $1 million will be.
Thanks to your generosity, Urban Ministry raised $87,971 during this matching campaign in 2011. We’re asking for your help again. Please give prayerful consideration to participating in this program this year, and give as generously as you are able.
It’s the best investment you can make. The matching funds mean your financial contribution goes even further, and the work we are doing together to end hunger is a concrete way to share God’s love with all we meet.
Remember to mark your donation for the Feinstein program and send it
